The Cross County Veterinary Clinic was started in 1970 as the only veterinary practice in the county by Dr. Harmon Smith. His niece Dr. Julie Boone later joined the practice in 2000 and was an amazing veterinarian and was also very involved with community. Following Dr. Boone’s unfortunate passing in 2019, Dr. Matthew Lackey joined the practice in 2020. Dr. Smith has recently retired and is still enjoying his farm life with his wife Jeanie.
Dr. Lackey graduated from St. George’s University vet school in 2014. He is married to Laura and they have two children, Liam and Greer and two rescue dogs CJ and Zuma. Matt hopes to continue to honor the legacy of both Dr. Smith and Dr. Boone by continuing to provide excellent care for the pets of Cross County.
In June 2022, we welcomed Dr. Tara-Beth Brandon. Dr. Brandon graduated from Ross University vet school. She and her husband, Wesley, live in Marianna and have three fur babies: Nala, Grier, and Hank. Dr. Brandon has brought her interest of large animal back to our clinic.
We look forward to meeting you and getting to know you and your pet!
